Don Rafael Margalef Bertomeu, in the years 1935-1940 built a rice mill made of wood, with the distinction of “Own Harvest” label.

Although long before this, about 1910, his father Don Rafael Margalef Torta, was already dedicated to growing and hand milling rice, in a completely traditional way.

Brother and sister, Rafael y Teresa Margalef, the third generation, have preserved the mill, as well as using the same milling process, in order to produce hand-milled rices with exceptional culinary properties.

Nowadays it is the only family mill made of wood in the Ebro delta (Tarragona, Spain) Thanks to the efforts of Rafael Margalef Bertomeu in preserving and maintaining the wooden mill and keeping all the machinery in working order, the mill Moli de Rafelet was listed in July 2008, as “rice museum Molí de Rafelet”.
